Director, Marketing & Communications
Carbon Engineering (CE) is a climate solutions company and a leading provider of Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology that captures carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere. CE is focused on the global deployment of megaton-scale DAC technology so it can have the greatest impact on the huge climate challenge. Our team and partners around the world are working to deploy facilities that can capture one million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year each – which is equivalent to the carbon removal work of approx. 40 million trees. This important technology can help any company, country or individual achieve critical net zero targets by delivering solutions for permanent carbon removal and low carbon intensity fuels.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced marketing and communications professional to engage global audiences and help accelerate the deployment of Carbon Engineering’s scalable, affordable climate solutions.
Position Scope
Partnering with senior executives and business leads, territory consultants, and partner organizations, you will develop and execute marketing and communications strategies across North America and in key international regions such as the UK, Europe, South America, and Asia Pacific. You will own the marketing and communications strategy and will drive all stages of the process.
This position reports to the VP & Head of Business Development in Vancouver, B.C. The successful candidate will be based in either Vancouver or Squamish, B.C.
About You
You're a senior Marketing and Communications (MARCOM) professional skilled in delivering & executing on big picture strategy internationally - yet still enjoy rolling up your sleeves & helping your team deliver the content & collateral for these strategies. You're experienced and adept in leveraging the MARCOM efforts of global partners. By collaborating on their global PR efforts in coordination with your own local MARCOM team's strategies, you'll be able to greatly amplify the CE Brand on a world stage.
Core Responsibilities
You will be leading a small & talented MARCOM team and will have access to a wide pool of resources as you build and execute an effective Marketing and Communications Strategy.
- Working with CE’s executives, business development team, and PR agency, you will raise broad awareness for our critical climate solutions.
- Working with existing territory partners and their PR departments and agencies, you will help promote the CE brand and CE objectives through their marketing activities.
- Working with CE and territory partner business development personnel and our PR agency, you will develop and implement a marketing and communications plan to attract high-calibre international partners and support them in their licensing decisions.
- Working with CE and territory partner business development and finance personnel and our PR agency, you will develop and implement a marketing and communications plan to attract and support the international finance community in their decisions to finance billions of dollars in new climate infrastructure worldwide.
- Working with our international partners, their marketing departments, and CE management, you will develop and implement a marketing and communications plan to attract and support major industries such as aviation and maritime in their decisions to purchase permanent carbon dioxide removal and low-carbon fuels.
- Working with CE and territory partner policy teams, you will support international governments working on decarbonization policies by providing information on our solutions.
Education and Experience
Education
- Undergraduate degree or diploma, preferably in public relations, marketing and communications, journalism, or a related field, such as climate and energy policy
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in progressively senior marketing and communications roles
- Demonstrated success in similar roles delivering on Core Responsibilities
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic marketing and communications plans to support business objectives, preferably in one or more of the following markets: Europe, Asia Pacific, South America
- Advanced media relations experience with demonstrated success securing top tier coverage, preferably in the business, finance, policy or energy beats
- Experience working closely with key B2B relationships to develop joint communication strategies.

- Comfort with taking the pen – doing as well as strategizing
- Willingness to sometimes work early mornings or late evenings as needed to collaborate with CE’s global team.
