Position Scope
As an Instrumentation Engineer, you are responsible to develop instrumentation deliverables for upgrades to Carbon Engineering’s demonstration plant and the review of deliverables from EPC firms designing commercial plants. Your focus will be supporting the operation of and upgrades to Carbon Engineering’s demonstration plant by developing the instrumentation for new equipment and supporting the improvement of existing instrumentation. You will act as the point of contact to progress instrumentation projects by incorporating direction and guidance from specialized instrumentation experts employed by Carbon Engineering’s partner companies, contracted experts, and vendors. Additionally, you will be required to review instrumentation deliverables associated with commercial projects.
The successful candidate will be working onsite in Squamish, BC
Responsibilities
Technical:
- Support commercial projects through review of engineering deliverables.
- Support internal projects by developing instrumentation engineering documents and selecting appropriate instruments for each service.
- Review the instrumentation in use at the demonstration facility and recommend upgrades.
- Support the selection and deployment of industrial analyzers.
- Collaborate with experts from other companies and vendors deliver solutions for Carbon Engineering’s Demonstration plant.
- Provide progress against milestones/deadlines to management.
- Abide by the standards and policies of Carbon Engineering and the projects you are assigned.
- Foster and maintain a positive culture within the Engineering Team; a questioning mindset and recognize failure as a learning opportunity.
- Expect to be on-site in Squamish, BC at least 3 days/week and more frequently during commissioning/testing periods.

- Identify, report, and resolve unsafe conditions, processes or actions within the workplace.
- Ensure that all environmental and safety related incidents, accidents, and near misses are reported in the appropriate timeframe and investigated in line with company policy.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- BSc in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent
Experience:
- P.Eng registered or able to register with EGBC and stamp engineering documents
- 4 - 8 years of experience in process plant design, commissioning, start-up and operations
Key Competencies:
- Familiarity with typical plant engineering deliverables (P&IDs, Cause & Effect Matrix, Instrumentation datasheets, Control Philosophies, Control Logic, Loop diagrams, Panel design)
