Position Scope
As an Instrumentation Technician, your role is to provide instrumentation service and support for our Innovation Centre’s operations. Your primary focus will be to assist the Innovation Centre’s operations by maintaining and troubleshooting instrumentation and analyzer systems including power and signal cabling as well as enclosures, Variable Frequency Drive’s and other instrumentation equipment. Additionally, you will support the development of the plant controls system.
Key Responsibilities
Environment and Safety
- Demonstrate a positive safety culture.
- Maintain the plant in a safe condition in line with all applicable regulations.
- Identify, report, and resolve unsafe conditions, processes or actions within the workplace.
- Ensure that safety instrumentation systems are maintained in good working order.
- Ensure that all environmental and safety related incidents, accidents, and near misses are reported in the appropriate timeframe and investigated in line with company policy.
Technical
- Carry out preventive and condition-based maintenance of the Innovation Centre’s process equipment with a focus on instrumentation, analyzers (including lab) and control equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation faults.
- Develop maintenance schedules for instrumentation, analyzers, and control equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, workplans and vendor O&M documentation.
- Install new instrumentation as required and provide support during commissioning of new equipment.
- Collaborate with Engineering in designing and planning future plant modifications.
- Identify and apply appropriate quality management tools and techniques to ensure best practices for instrumentation repair and replacement.
- Identify, capture, and communicate lessons learned and implement solutions where appropriate.
- Develop, implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Instrumentation maintenance tasks.
Education and Experience
Education:
- Interprovincial Red Seal Instrumentation and Control Technician.
- Interprovincial Red Seal Electrician is an asset but not required.
Experience:
- 5-10 years of experience as an instrumentation and control technician in an industrial setting.
